Why Chuchel Is Great

Chuchel is another indie title from Czech studio Amanita Design. It is a charming but not so typical point & click adventure that might spark your interest.

Chuchel seems to be a sort of woolen creature with an insatiable desire for his precious cherry. From the start this journey leads from one funny moment to the next being Chuchel's behaviour that puts a smile on your face. The style of humorously animations and sound effects cracked me up consistently. He seems to be such a sweetly naive character totally losing it every other scene.

Similar to former title Machinarium from Amanita Design, Chuchel doesn't offer a single dialogue or text box in the game. Only gestures and gibberish give you an idea what is going on. The creative heads behind Chuchel truly understand how visual expression can carry a game and execute it in a way making their titles feel unique. It is a joy to witness and investigate how exactly this universe is working.

Some of the illustrations are plain hilarious. The colorful picture and sound design create a breathing and cheerful frame. There are also plenty references (and minigames) to oldschool games you surely are going to recognize.

In the end, Chuchel is a rather short - but a diverting and fun experience.
